The “Downfall of Lobengula” is generally regarded as the Charted Companys Official account of the Matabele war of 1893. Although nominally a history of the cause and effect of this event from the time of the arrival of Mzilikazi in the territory north of the Limpopo River,to the death of his successor Lobengula. It tells of the exploration and settlement of Mashonaland and Matabeleland (now known as Rhodesia) and in the final struggle with Lobengula, last king of the Matabele.
