Through a diary kept over two years, this fictional hunt for, purchase and renovation of a house is explained to us. Naturally nothing goes smoothly from the bank not wanting to lend and the builder not turning up. The writer is trying to hold down a job while increasingly harried and spending ever more time on the phone. There are plenty of salutary lessons to be learned and plenty of fun too.
