First published over fifty years ago, the weird and wonderful characters in the Hoffnung Symphony Orchestra will bring a smile to the faces of classical music fans of all ages. Fifty-three instruments, both real and imagined, are depicted by the artist. Amongst my favourites are the serpent that has eaten its player, and the ‘trinkler’ – a cross between a muted trumpet and a watering can. A great gift for budding musicians, this is also a fun addition to any coffee table or guest room.
