Beskrivelse
The close friend of Vaughan Williams, Walton, Bax, Moeran, Rawsthorne and Boult, all of whom sought and valued his opinion, he has been remembered only by occasional performances and recordings of the choral and orchestral “The trees so High” and the semi-autobiographical “The Hills”, which later work can now be seen as the composer’s lament for the loss of his parents and for his own unfulfilled life.
