Beskrivelse
Hobson writes with a lucid style that exemplifies an era of the past. His analysis of why people are so possessed by geometric constructions is kind, but penetrating and accurate. Of most concern to likely readers is his treatment of the transcendence of pi. His proof requires mathematical maturity, but it is complete. Unlike proofs given in Hardy and Wright and other books, including Hobson’s Plane and Advanced Trigonometry, in this book symmetric functions are well presented.
