Beskrivelse
Literary reminiscences and autobiographical fragments from Ivan Turgenev with an essay on Turgenev by Edmund Wilson, translated from the Russian and with an intro by David Magarshack. This book is comprised of biographical material, written by David Magarshak- an excellent tranlator, and, writer in his own right- and some snippets from Turgeniev himself, his ‘literary reminiscences’, as the title suggests. For example, his personal experiences of various well known Russian writers: Gogol, Pushkin (passed him on the stairs) Lermontov (saw him at a party once) and so on. Turgeniev himself saw both Dickens and Gogol do public readings of their own work, an interesting insight. If you like Russian writers, you’ll probably like this- I did.
