This is a ‘must read’ text for any serious musician and/or general lover of music. This is the final volume in David Brown’s four volume biography on the composer P. Tchaikovsky. This volume, like the others includes selected analysis of particular works. I think the aspect which makes this such a wonderful biography is that in addition to the research involved, which is clearly vast, Brown combines the anecdotal elements of Tchaikovsky’s life and times with analysis and explanation of the music.
