Beskrivelse
This is the best biography of composer Frederick Delius that I have read. Delius was very cosmopolitan. He was born in Bradford in Yorkshire, England, in 1862, the son of a German wool merchant, Julius Delius. At age 20, Delius travelled in continental Europe, especially France and Scandinavia. Two years later he was sent to America to try his hand at cultivating oranges in Florida. After spending some time in Germany Delius decided to settle in France. Palmer’s book describes Delius’ journey through life with respect to his geographical location at the time. Jefferson’s book describes Delius’ life chronologically, which amounts almost to the same thing. This book will give you a real feel for this composer and his works.
