I absolutely love Adrian Mole. Back in the 80s this was televised with the amazing Julie Walters as our protagonist’s mother. I grew up with Adrian as kids now have grown up with Harry Potter. Both bespectacled unlikely heroes with difficult and frustrating lives – I still can’t put this book down. Well written, both hilarious and poignant – I would reccommend starting at the beginning and going through them all. Townsend now suffers from diabetes-induced blindness and dictates the books – and she has not lost one iota of Adrian in the process. Awesome, awesome, awesome.
