Cosima Wagner was the illegitimate daughter of Franz Liszt (1811-86). She left her husband conductor Hans Bulow to become the wife of Richard Wagner (1813-83). He is the comoposer of the Ring Cycle of operas as well as such classics as the Flying Dutchman, Der Meistersinger of Nuremburg, Parsifal, Tannhauser, Tristan and Isolde and Lohengrin. The Wagners were Anti-Semitic but brilliant. They lived in Bayreuth where Wagner developed the Bayreuth festival to promote his great theatrical and musical works.
